When to choose the Emergency Room
The emergency room is used for more serious health conditions. These include seizures, loss of consciousness, newborn fevers, uncontrollable bleeding, weakness/numbness on one side, slurred speech, chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe pain, severe burns, and vaginal bleeding with pregnancy. These conditions require more targeted medical care or extended hospital stays.
Always call 911 and don't drive yourself to the Emergency Department if you are having difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, a life or limb injury, or signs of stroke or heart attack.
Primary Care
Primary care providers are trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions you may have across your whole life span.
They can perform a wide range of services from immunizations and disease diagnosis to minor surgery. They can also prescribe medications, create treatment plans, and help patients manage their care.
